It’s been a big weekend for Marvel all the way even up to today. 3 of their big franchises were up in the news. Let’s see who’s talking about what. First up, The Amazing Spider-man releases six NEW high res pictures from the July 3rd release. Director Mark Webb, known for directing 500 Days of Summer, will be focusing more on the lesser known relationship between Parker and Gwen Stacy. These images start to show more of a human , high schooler side to the characters. Oh, and this picture of Parking swinging around in what, I hope, is an amazing training montage. Plus, there’s this one, of the new outfit in action. Lookin good spidey. Next we have an official update for Thor 2. It FINALLY has a director. That’s right, replacing Patty Jenkins will be Alan Taylor. Best known for directing episodes of HBO’s Game of Thrones, Marvel felt he was a good choice to continue on the major franchise. Jenkins was first let go due to creative differences, but then later it was revealed Marvel let her go for “A lack of overall clarity in her choices” and felt she wouldn’t be able to hit that November 2013 deadline. I’m more interested to see what happens with Natalie Portman who was very vocal about having Jenkins take the helm of this highly anticipated sequel. Finally, Nick Cage fans rejoice.
